Missions & Objectives

Scientific Excellence

Founded on the individual excellence of the research units involved, the main objective of the IFR MARRES is to bring together the University's scientific expertise in the field of Marine Resources, in order to encourage and foster cross-disciplinary and collaborative research for ambitious projects. This objective is articulated around global goals and activities on fields of research, conservation, innovation, education and centered around the scientific culture carried out by each member of the  research units.

The IFR MARRES is recognized by the expertise of the research units involved, which cover a vast diversity of scientific disciplines, in order to structure, promote ambitious collaborative projects and communicate on the "marine resources" research at the Université Côte d'Azur. From the outset, the IFR MARRES has been part of the University's five "Academies of Excellence", six "University Research Schools" (LIFE, LEX4Society, CREATES, ELMI, DS4H, SPECTRUM), three doctoral schools (ED85, ED364, ED513) and five Master's-level teaching programs. These links reflect the dynamic and multidisciplinary nature of IFR MARRES.

Local, national and international anchorage

Through these missions, IFR MARRES aims to strengthen its local interactions. The network of scientists co-constructed within the IFR MARRES has enabled the emergence of a territorial anchorage with laboratories located from Cannes to Villefranche, via the Nice Côte d'Azur Metropolis.
In a second phase, the IFR is extending its network to cross-border countries such as Monaco and Italy. Strengthening collaborations with scientific and socio-economic partners (including non-profit organizations) will boost innovation for the benefit of the marine environment and, ultimately, sustainable regional development.
